About Navratri

Navratri means nine nights. It honours Goddess Durga in her nine forms, with fasting, prayers and Ghatasthapana on the first day. Each day has its own goddess and colour.

In Gujarat and across India, evenings are filled with garba and dandiya raas. Navratri ends with Dussehra (Vijayadashami) on the tenth day, and in Bengal it overlaps with Durga Puja.

Also called: Sharad Navratri, Durga Navratri.
