In short
- Countdowns are stored inside the link, not on our servers.
- The surprise is in the part of the link after #, which browsers never send to any server.
- Anyone with the link can open the countdown.
01What's in the link
The title, the recipient's name, the time and the chosen theme are in the visible part of the link, so that WhatsApp and other apps can show a preview. When someone opens the link, these reach our hosting provider like any web address and can appear in its standard technical logs. We don't save them in a database.
The message, the surprise and your name are compressed into the part of the link after the # sign. Browsers keep this part on the device and never send it to any server, including ours. It isn't encrypted, so anyone who has the link can read it.
02Photos, songs and links
If a countdown includes a photo, song, video or location link, those load from the site they point to (for example Google Photos or YouTube) under that site's privacy policy. YouTube videos load in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com).
03Help form
If you use the “Need help?” form, we receive the details you enter (name, email, optional phone, topic and message) and use them only to reply, as described in our Privacy Policy.
