What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a proposed standard (llmstxt.org): a Markdown file at yoursite.com/llms.txt with your site's name, a one-line summary and links to your most useful pages, grouped under headings. It gives AI assistants a clean map of your site without menus, ads and scripts. It's not a ranking factor, but it's quick to add and helps AI tools understand your site.
It doesn't affect Google rankings. It's for AI tools and agents that read it to understand your site. Think of it as a sitemap written for language models.
Your site name, a short summary, a few key facts, then links to your most important pages with one-line descriptions. Put less important pages under an “Optional” heading.
At the root of your domain: https://yoursite.com/llms.txt. In Webflow, host it as a file and add a redirect, or use a reverse proxy. In WordPress, upload it to the site root or use a plugin.
An optional second file with the full text of your key pages in one Markdown file. Start with llms.txt; add llms-full.txt later if you like.
Your most useful 10 to 50 pages. It's a summary, not a copy of your sitemap.
